The battery will typically last 500 charge cycles at which time the capacity is reduced to around 80%. One charge cycle is counted as a full discharge followed by a full charge. So if the battery is charged when it is 50% full, this only count as half a charge cycle.
When fully charging the battery, it is best to use the trike immediately after the charging, as prolonged storage of a 100% charged lithium battery degrades the battery. If the battery needs to be stored for a long time, it is best to ensure that it is only charged between 30% and 80%.
The number of charge cycles are calculated and stored to the center display. If charging to only 80% capacity, the maximum available charge cycles will double. This is possible of the 5A charger on sale in the VELOKS shop.
500 charge cycles may not sound like a lot, but actual this means between 80.000km (with 1kWh capacity) and 320.000 km (with 4kWh capacity) of cycling when used as a 250w Pedelec.
